A class of exactly solvable free-boundary inhomogeneous porous medium flows
We describe a class of inhomogeneous two-dimensional porous medium flows, driven by a finite number of multipole sources; the free boundary dynamics can be parametrized by polynomial conformal maps. 1 Inhomogeneous Porous-Medium Flows A class of two-phase porous medium flows in two dimensions involves the dynamics of the boundary ∂Ω(t) in the (x, y) plane separating two disjoint, open regions, ...
متن کاملA Class of Exactly-Solvable Eigenvalue Problems
The class of differential-equation eigenvalue problems −y′′(x)+x2N+2y(x) = xNEy(x) (N = −1, 0, 1, 2, 3, . . .) on the interval −∞ < x < ∞ can be solved in closed form for all the eigenvalues E and the corresponding eigenfunctions y(x). The eigenvalues are all integers and the eigenfunctions are all confluent hypergeometric functions. The eigenfunctions can be rewritten as products of polynomial...
متن کاملMagnetohydrodynamic Free Convection Flows with Thermal Memory over a Moving Vertical Plate in Porous Medium
The unsteady hydro-magnetic free convection flow with heat transfer of a linearly viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid near a moving vertical plate with the constant heat is investigated. The flow domain is the porous half-space and a magnetic field of a variable direction is applied. The Caputo time-fractional derivative is employed in order to introduce a thermal flux consti...
متن کاملWave propagation in highly inhomogeneous thin films : exactly solvable models
We present an exact treatment of wave propagation in some inhomogeneous thin films with highly spacedependent dielectric constant. It is based on a space transformation which replaces the physical space by the optical path. In the new space, the dispersion equation is that of a normal progressive wave. We will show that the dispersion properties of such films are plasmaor waveguide-like, the ch...
متن کاملSurface Tension of a Metal-Electrolyte Boundary: Exactly Solvable Model
An ideal conductor electrode in contact with a semi-infinite two-dimensional twocomponent plasma in an external potential is considered. The model is mapped onto an integrable sine-Gordon theory with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The information gained from the mapping provides an explicit form of the surface tension in the plasma-stability regime.
